Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute merchandise strategies that align with company goals and customer needs
  • Select, source, and negotiate with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and delivery timelines
  • Monitor product performance and conduct regular sales analysis to manage stock levels and adjust purchasing decisions accordingly
  • Plan and manage seasonal product assortments, promotions, and markdowns to drive sales and margin
  • Collaborate with marketing and store operations teams to plan product launches, in-store promotions, and online campaigns
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships and evaluate vendor performance regularly
  • Forecast demand and manage inventory to minimize overstock and stockouts
  • Conduct market and competitor analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks
  • Supervise and mentor junior buyers or category assistants as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in merchandising, category management, or buying in a retail environment
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUP, PivotTables) and merchandising systems (e.g., SAP, AS400)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong understanding of retail trends, consumer behavior, and market dynamics
