Happiness in workplace Happiness is what every person is looking for, both in their personal and work life. A happy person is one who always has positive emotions. An average employee spends not less than one third of a day in workplace as if it is his second home. Therefore, if the workplace is nice to live, the employee will be happy to go to work and want to show off good performance every day. Thus, it can be seen that workplace plays an important role to a person’s happiness. That’s because if the workplace is nice, the person will be healthy and happy and has long-term efficiency. Being happy is very necessary to work well in an organization. You can be easily happy in your workplace with the following methods:1. Solving problems correctly: You will have to face various problems at work. Don’t let your emotions get involved when solving such problems because that will only increase stress. Every problem has a solution. It may sometimes just need another perspective. You may ask someone for help. You may take this opportunity to practice your questioning skill. When the problem is solved, you will be relaxed and no longer stressed;2. Enhancing employability skills: Some people do the jobs that they are not good at or do not match their knowledge and competency so their performance is not good. As a result, they are discouraged to work any further. Self-development will give you a better chance to become successful at work and be accepted by your colleagues and boss. You will be happier and prouder with your work;3. Modification of workplace environment: Having a clean and orderly workplace and putting pictures of your family or your beloved ones, or anything valuable to you close to you will help cheer you up. Potted plants or flower vases can also make the workplace more refreshing.4. Good time management: If you are able to manage your time properly, you will be able to do your job more effectively and have enough time to take a rest and spend with your family. That means you can reduce your stress as well. You should think about how you spend your time each day so that you can manage your time effectively for work, party, family, and rest;5. Changing your thinking: If you learn to look from the other perspective, you will be able to reduce your stress. If you feel that you think too much, but cannot find any way out from your problem. You should try to stop thinking for a while. Then, think more flexibly and reasonably like other people and also think of other people;6. Recreation: After working hours, you should take time to relax so that you will be able to get back to work more effectively. There are many recreational activities and you should try to choose those activities that are opposite to your career;7. Standing up for your rights: Stress may be caused by the fact that you allow people to take advantage too much from you. The rights that you should stand up for are those that you are entitled to. You have the rights to say no to others when you have a good reason to do so, to complete your urgent task, to ask if you do not understand something, and to change your mind when you have new information;8. Strengthening your mind: A strong mind can beat stress. You can strengthen your mind by improving your self-confidence, developing yourself, understanding that nothing is certain, and not clinging to the past or being worried too much about the future. Make you family a happy one because a happy family is the best support for you to fight against any obstacles.9. Building a good relationship with colleagues: Good relationship with your colleagues can be achieved by putting yourself in their shoes, being a good listener, thinking before speaking, analyzing their needs, and not considering only your own interest;10. Showing proper emotions: Expressing improper emotions will lead to stress. You should try to control your emotions. Think carefully before speaking. Do proper things so there will be no problems later. When you are in good mood, you should show it by smiling, joking, or humming a melody to make people around you feel good too;11. Exercise: If you exercise until you sweat and are tired, you will be able to reduce your stress. Doing exercise or sports with your friends after work or on holidays will make the activities even more fun. Doing house chores with your family members on holidays is considered a good exercise and will also strengthen good relationship in your family; and12. Creative speaking: The workplace’s environment can be improved if employees learn to say hello, sorry, and thank you to each other all the time. If you regularly admire other employees or ask them how they are, give them willpower, there will be less conflicts in workplace and less stress as well. From many methods mentioned above, it can be clearly seen that it is not too difficult to create a happy workplace. You can start from yourself by changing your way of thinking and attitudes to become more optimistic. However, supervisors and executives play an important role in creating a happy workplace by being friendly and fair to all employees, not discriminating against the employees, giving them proper advices, and supporting various activities in the workplace to create a relaxing environment. Doing so, the employees will be not stressed and become happy in workplace. They will also be more active, healthy, and happy, which will enable them to work more effectively in the long term.
