Deputy Plant Manager

Job Description:

  • The Deputy Plant Manager is responsible for (Company Excellence System - training provided) and plant operational improvement, with management delegation responsibility from the plant manager for specific areas and functions within the plant (e.g UAPs, maintenance, PC&L, engineering, new program…).
  • In his / her perimeter this person keeps plant manager accountability to deliver its budget commitment, measured through gross margin and inventory level, which means:
  • Secure plant safety for employees; adequate customer satisfaction - quality and deliveries on time; empower employees and work force.
  • Manage his / her P&L to drive the appropriate actions to adapt plant resources and costs to volume variation and manage launch preparation cost for new programs
  • To drive continuous and breakthrough improvement through plant priorities and resources defined by the PIP (plant improvement plan) and aligned with PMT (Plant- Mid-Term) business targets using tools and methodologies to support execution
  • In his/her area (according to the delegation given by the plant manager), to contribute partially or be accountable on the basics plant management missions:
  • Ensure safety of employees
  • Ensure permanent customer satisfaction quality and deliveries
  • Mentor and develop the production management skills & competencies of the team.
  • Manage and supervise the production process effectively through operational reviews.
  • Plan and manage resources daily to ensure master schedule commitments are met.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to ensure production related problems are identified and resolved quickly. Drive to root cause solutions in workmanship and efficiency.
  • Manage variable margin : direct labor efficiency and productivity/ material cost consumption - Scrap and rework reduction
  • Manage fixed cost: indirect labor / manufacturing costs/ inventory variances
  • Manage inventories: implement procedures to ensure inventory accuracy and physical flow in the plant.
  • Set plant lay out for optimal flow and efficient use of equipment: capacity, reliability, operating costs, CAPEX control
  • Coordinate activities that affect operational decisions and planning daily operations.
  • Carry out gap analysis of operations and provide business plan to enable recruitment of key additional members of the operations and production team.
  • Daily interface required with planning, engineering, quality and purchasing to resolve problems and implement process improvements.
  • Analyses and provide solutions to manufacturing challenges or problems
  • Ensure the finished goods are consistently manufactured according to standards of quality and as per manufacturing instructions.
  • Good relationship with relevant stakeholders (i.e quality teams, maintenance, production)
  • Act within program team as early as acquisition, to create best conditions for production, secure launches and ensure competitiveness/ profitability of the new programs.
  • Respect for the environment and security of the plant
  • Participate in PMT construction to confirm plant mid-term vision and future
  • Ensure staffing, induction, training, empowerment and development of all plant employees including managers & professionals, and develop his/her team to prepare succession
  • Manage social climate

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in production management and lean manufacturing / Supply chain
  • A minimum of Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Industrial/Electrical and any relevant field)
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in electronics.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Supply Chain
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
  • Understands good manufacturing practice and good documentation practice
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with peers, supervisors, manufacturing engineers, supply chain managers and leads.
  • Able to understand instructions and batch records
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Proven experience in team management with leadership and coaching skills
  • Results oriented
  • English fluent
