Job Summary:
Die & Jig Fixture Engineer, responsible for design, develop, and maintain high-precision dies, jigs, and fixtures used in the manufacturing process. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, tool & die engineering, and manufacturing support to ensure high-quality, cost-effective production tooling.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Development:
- Design dies, jigs, and fixtures using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA).
- Develop detailed engineering drawings and BOMs for manufacturing.
- Ensure tooling meets required tolerances and functionality.
Project Management:
- Manage tooling projects from concept through to commissioning.
- Work closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure tooling supports manufacturing objectives.
Tooling Fabrication Support:
- Liaise with external and internal toolmakers to oversee the fabrication process.
- Perform tool validation, testing, and commissioning.
Process Improvement:
- Analyze and improve existing tooling to enhance production efficiency and quality.
- Implement changes to reduce cycle time, cost, and improve safety.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Support preventive and corrective maintenance of dies and fixtures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve tooling issues during production.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die Engineering, or related field.
- Min.5 years of experience in die and jig/fixture design in Automotive manufacturing.
- Proficient in CAD software and familiarity with GD&T.
- Strong understanding of metal forming, machining, welding, and assembly processes.
- Experience with press tools, checking fixtures, and assembly jigs.
- Knowledge of ISO/TS 16949, lean manufacturing, and 5S practices is an advantage.
