Objective / Purpose of the Department
The Business Development department is the commercial driver of our growth. The purpose of the department is to attract new customers, to retain and grow our existing customers as well as to enhance the existing customer portfolio by increasing the number of clients in all of the Freight Forwarding's customer segments, especially Strategic Accounts, Key Accounts and Global Accounts and grow our revenue and gross profit primarily within the network by a defined percentage every year.
The Business Support Services department within the Business Development function at Divisional Head Office level is accountable for specific support activities to Freight Forwarding commercial owners in the Business Development network related to tenders from customers.
The team within the Business Support Services department is responsible for the end-to-end management of global tenders received from the global account managers, vertical market directors, Supply Chain Solutions and the network.
The team is also responsible for setting and driving strategy + best practice for the handling of these projects/tenders throughout the network.
Objective / Purpose of the Job
The purpose of this job is the end-to-end project management of proposals for global tenders received from the global account managers, Supply Chain Solutions and the network.
To develop and optimize innovative proposals in order to support reaching customer satisfaction and safeguard + increase sales revenue.
Key Accountabilities (including activities)
Tenders (primary responsibility)
Collect and review rates for both global tenders, based on the specific Request For Quotation and in close cooperation with relevant stakeholders, to deliver a correct, timely and value adding response to the customers' request.
- Contribute to the development of global tender policies, process and procedures, in line with the company strategy and execute in order to increase the amount of tenders and the tender hit rate.
- Administer and maintain the tender automation systems, to contribute to the effective processing and competitiveness of tenders.
- Gather, consolidate and review pricing data
- Manage the correct submission of requested information by the prospect
- Monitor timelines and manage realization of the tender process within deadlines
- Follow Global Sales Process and monitor compliance to it
- Define and determine individual objectives related to the project and steer on the realization of set objectives
Business Development Strategy
Contribute to the creation of the Business Development strategy from Tender Management
- Provide support with the translation of the strategy into a strategic plan for Tender Management
Business Support Services Strategy
Contribute to the development and execution of the Business Support Services strategy, in cooperation with the team manager and in line with market needs, to support direction and SMART objectives to the organization
- Identify and report optimization possibilities in approach, processes and policies
- Translate the Business Support Services approach into specific project plans
- Understand, contribute to and communicate the Business Support Services approach
New business
Contribute to the realization of new business by advising on specific customer solutions and the internal opportunities/challenges as well as delivering support in sales process to enable the organization to manage expectations and deliver as promised
- Liaise with functional process owners to ensure up to date information is available to be incorporated within proposal documents and shared with first line sales management
- Conduct direct and open communication with customers at Senior Executive level to meet customer & Freight Forwarding objectives.
- Provide support and advise in development of show cases
Compliance
Identify deviations from compliance guidelines and policies (like credit management), and to contribute to the minimization of risks for Freight Forwarding.
- Analyze the agreements made and actual actions taken during the project
- Report to budget holders in running projects in case of deviations
- Ambassador Function as the ambassador for the Business Support Services function worldwide, to contribute to the global establishment and success of Business Support Services.
- Establish and maintain a global network within global IT, Business Development and Operations functions
- Pro-actively communicate the Business Support Services approach
- Act as trainer towards the network on Business Support Services
Management Information
Administer and report information on KPI's for assigned projects to ensure alignment within the Global Business Support Services team and that corrective actions can be taken to ensure realization of the department plans.
- Execute correct administration activities and department results
- Generate relevant reports for the assigned activities
Experience & Knowledge
- Academic working and thinking level
- Project Management experience on multi-functional projects
- International business experience / awareness especially covering Business Development /Operations and IT within freight forwarding
- Knowledge of the sector and relevant developments in it
- High level of knowledge on Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
- Knowledge of tender management
- Knowledge of value added and supply chain solutions
- Needs preferably 5+ years of experience in tender management
- Fluent in the English language, and Thai
NOTES:
Expat can be proposed for the role, but need to speak Thai and have knowledge about local regulations.
Must come from Freight Forwarding Industry
32+ years old preferred (max 45): they look for commitment and permanently in the company
80/100k salary per month + bonus on performance
