In the competitive world of marketing or business, human resources are considered one of the most important forces that drive the company forward. No company would be able to grow or expand its business, if there are no creative ideas of its personnel. Many companies have invented new methods, tools, or techniques, hoping that they will make them stand out from their competitors. However, these companies may forget that what they have invented and are going to use will have to rely largely on effective communication and good management of executives or supervisors to achieve the companies’ goals.
Main objectives of coaching

>  To help employees understand and realize their competency by observing their behavior in order to identify strengths that should be promoted so the employees can work better and to determine weaknesses that should rectified;

>  To motivate employees to make some changes: Leader may discuss with subordinates on objectives or goals of improving weaknesses. Such discussion will motivate and inspire the employees to “want to improve and change themselves.”

> To inspire employees to be determined to achieve the goal and take responsibility by comply with the developed plan. Meanwhile, the leader has to give the employees advice and feedback, either on their strengths and room for improvements, in order to achieve the goal; and

> To get the employees trust in the leader: the leader has to conduct the follow-up and evaluation activities in order to see the progress of the task or whether there are any problems or obstacles encountered. Then, the leader will coach or give feedback to the employees to gain their trust.

            There are many times when the leader avoids giving feedback with a simple reason like he has no time or is too busy. The leader may not realize that giving feedback will do many good things to the team. The leader himself will benefit from giving feedback. That is to say he will have more time or be less busy because there are now many good and competent team members to make the task easier, reduce problems, and increase efficiency of the work.
